Joanna's Teriyaki Pork
A yummy pork recipe that does well at bridging the cultures. Peter and Monica served this at their wedding. Serve over hot, fragrant rice. 2-3 lb. pork, cut into bite size pieces 2-3 cloves garlic, chopped 1 large onion 2-3 red or green peppers Sauce ingredients: 2 c. water 1 T. beef bouillon 2/3 c. soy sauce 2 tsp. coarse black pepper 1/3 c. sugar 4 T. cornstarch mixed with cold water Fry pork and garlic in small amount of oil until browned a little. Put into slow cooker and add sauce ingredients except for cornstarch mixture. Cook on high for 2-3 hr. on low or for 4-5 hr. until tender. In the meantime, cut onions and peppers into bite size pieces. Fry in small amount of oil until tender. Add to the slow cooker toward the end of the cooking time. Add cornstarch mixed with a little cold water. Let come to a boil to thicken. Serve over rice. Variations: can also add pineapple chunks or carrot pieces.
